Brown's Hill-Knightsville Historic Neighborhood Brown's Hill-Knightsville Historic Neighborhood was established between 1889 and 1929. The Knightsville is the older section, containing houses built for the Skandia Furniture Company. Many of the residents were from Sweden, and this area became its own self-sufficient village. The homes of Brown's Hill belonged to wealthy Rockford residents. The houses were built between 1922 to 1929.
